North Star International’s annual conference has been a lifeline of support to countless members of the LDS Church for many years.
North Star’s mission to help members live in harmony with church teachings requires that resources are also provided to the religious leaders who provide spiritual counsel. To receive spiritual counsel we know it is imperative that we foster an environment of knowledge and greater understanding of the trials that members with Same Sex Attraction or Gender Identity Incongruence may face.
Participating in the Youth/Teen Program
North Star International understands that the experience of youth today is very different than in the past. We want to help bring support resources to everyone including the growing youth membership. For the first time, we will be offering a program specifically designed to address the unique needs of same-sex attracted/gay/transgender youth.
Who qualifies to attend the Youth/Teen program?
Discounted registration is being offered to any youth or teen who is at least 12 years old. Participants are eligible up until their 19th birthday.
Will youth be offered private workshops specifically designed for them?
This year will be the first time that North Star International will be offering a dedicated youth program. Youth attendees will participate in some of the Keynote Sessions along with other attendees but have their own workshops developed for them.
Do youth need to attend the conference with their parents?
It is always encouraged to work with your parents to find support and resources. If your parents are not available to attend, a youth may register to attend on their own.
How much does it cost to register as a Youth/Teen attendee?
Youth/Teens are eligible for a discounted registration to the conference. This price is only $75 and will provide a continental breakfast on Friday and lunch on both Friday and Saturday.
What is the schedule for the Youth Program?
Prior to the start of the North Star Conference, there will be a networking social to meet youth who share their common experience.
The Youth program will officially begin on Friday, March 17 at 8:00am and continue through Saturday, March 18 at 5:30pm. Final schedule of events will be emailed personally to each Youth/Teen registration.
